8 My favorite subject this term.

Hi everyone, today I’m going to write about what is my favorite subject in this term. I think my favorite subject in all the semester was Sociology. I think sociology was my favorite subject-matter this semester because the classes were very interesting and reflective and this because we have a time defined by the teacher in the class to talk and discuss about the newly taught content and provide opinions to the class. I like so much this subject since one day my sociology teacher talks us about the suicide study by Emile Durkheim. I remember how in this class, the teacher talks us about how Emile Durkheim made suicide a topic of sociological study removing the false belief that it was a personal phenomenon whit only a psychological nature. The teacher learns us to the sociology theory of Karl Marx, Max Weber, Hebert Spencer, and Michel Foucault among others famous sociologist.

7 Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Image
A person that I admire on the field of social science is Simone de Beauvoir. Simone Lucie Ernestine Marie Bertrand de Beauvoir (her real name) was a French teacher, writer, philosopher, feminist and a social theorist, among other things. She born in January 9th of 1908 in Paris, France and finally died in April 14th of 1986, when she was 78 years. Since she was little girl, she stood out for good ratings and for showing interest in writing and teaching. She became in a pioneer feminist, and this beliefs were more difficult to hold in her times than today because woman had always been historically invisible by man but this was worse in the years that she lived. She maintains that "the woman" or what we understand as a woman is a cultural product that has been socially constructed. His most recognized work "The second sex" becomed controversial while Beauvoir was a lonely woman in the intellectual world of philosophers, denouncing the condition of women and making it ...

6: Back to the past

Image
I prefer going to the past, because knowing the future can be a little problematic. In the past we can remember and revive all types of memories that we have, like good and bad days to remember the emotions that we feel. Nevertheless, i think living in the past is not good because is stagnate the course of our life’s. But the certainty with respect to the future can make the life get boring. Finally i think I’d prefer living the life in the present, because it prepares us so many good things as bad, but always something new. If i could go to the past i don’t change anything with respect to important decisions that I take in my life. If I could go back to the past, to a specific period of history, I go back to 1960, specifically to 1969 to go to Woodstock. I think Woodstock is an unrepeatable event in the history, because joined many good and famous rock artist like Jimmi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Who. I like to stay in this rock festival during the three days it lasted....

5 A photograph i like

Image
This photo was taken by me. Is a corner of a street that can be visited on the ascent of the Alegría hill (sorry, but i don’t remember the specific street :(), in Valparaíso, a beautiful city located in the fifth region of our country. I take this picture in early July, but i don’t remember the exact day. The image show how irregular the city is because it is a city built on hills. Can also be appreciated a recreation of a Van Gogh painting. This is another characteristic of Valparaíso: art floods the streets and is reflected in its walls. I like too much this photograph because it represents these many characteristics that i really like about Valparaíso, and because i had a really great time travel whit a friend to there. It is a city I really like and where I like to live someday too.

Post 3: My favorite piece of technology

Image
My favorite piece of technology is a camera. There are different types of cameras, like analogs or digitals. I had my first camera 4 years ago, because my parents gifted to me one for my birthday. I really like cameras because they catch moments and allow to store them for remember them later. I use camera to take pictures of people, situations, animals, flowers or landscapes, especially when I travel. I use my camera in special situations, like family or friends reunions or birthdays or when I meet new places in others citys or countrys. Without cameras our memories would more fragile, because without audiovisual support is more difficult to remember. Probably life would be the same in the sense of we live the same things. But remember people or places would harder.

Post 4: My favorite movie

Image
My favorite movie is The clockwork orange and I like it because explore several themes such as the humane duality and talk about a near dystopian future ran by a government more worried about the public opinion than the real treatment  of a sick person. Explore controversial themes like, what they call “Ultraviolence”. The protagonist are sick people for our eyes, because they commit all tipes of horrible acts, like rape a woman or hit a hobo. I like it too much because I think that is a movie that talk too much about the society sickness. And the Kubrickian style makes the movie be considered a piece of art.  I like the movies that have a psychological plot. Or accion movies thats have unexpected ends. The last movie I saw was 21 Jump Street. Its a comedy that treats about two polices who are infiltrated in a university in the search of a new drug that killed a student. I recommend it because is really funny and have an unexpected end.

Post 2: Why did you choose this Career/study Programme?

When i was a child i dream to become a dentist, but as i grew up i knew it was not my thing. I always liked history in school, like wars and famous events. When i enter to primero medio, i rejected any possibility of studying something scientific. I had a vague knowledge about social sciences, but i liked sociology and anthropology. When i was in tercero medio, i had to choose an elective, and my high school had a social sciences elective. Finally i gave the PSU and my score was enought to postulate to Universidad de Chile. My first option was anthropology but i had others options like cine, sociology, psychology, degree in history, among others careers. Finally i think i made the right choice because i like JGM campus and my subjects. In a future ill like to work in public area and help  chilean people.
